Chelsea Fans Growing Concerned Over Talented Midfielder’s Limited Playing Opportunities

Chelsea recently underwent a significant transformation in their transfer approach, resulting in the acquisition of several young talents. Some of these players, however, are still too inexperienced to feature in Chelsea’s first team, prompting them to seek playing opportunities elsewhere. These youngsters are considered long-term projects with the hope that they will develop into top players. Among these promising talents is Andrey Santos.

Born in 2004, Santos officially joined Chelsea in January, but he was immediately loaned back to Brazilian club Vasco da Gama until the summer. After participating in pre-season training under Mauricio Pochettino, Andrey Santos faced tough competition for a midfield spot when Chelsea signed Lesley Ugochukwu, Romeo Lavia, and Moises Caicedo. With increased competition for playing time, Andrey Santos secured a loan move away from the club.

Despite interest from clubs like Porto and Benfica for a season-long loan, Santos ultimately chose to join Nottingham Forest under the management of Steve Cooper this summer.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Fulham: Blues must have to win

Concerns have been made over Andrey Santos’ stay at Nottingham Forest. His last game was in August when he began an EFL Cup encounter against Burnley that resulted in a loss. He has yet to play in the Premier League. Even when there haven’t been any known injuries to worry about, Santos has occasionally been missing from the Forest bench.

Chelsea supporters are becoming increasingly worried that Santos’ loan to Forest has not been fruitful. Some are even advocating for his early recall.

Andrey Santos not even coming off the bench for Forrest again today. We need to recall him and send him elsewhere for game time.

It is true that Andrey Santos is far down on Forest’s depth chart, which has pushed the player into an uncomfortable position. His top competition is fighting Ibrahim Sangare for the defensive midfield spot. Given the price Nottingham played for Sangare and the performances he’s capable of giving, it is hard to see where Andrey Santos will find time to play. This situation looks like it could be heading to a winter recall after all.
